Responsibilities or Duties
Interact and communicate with the public and ensure superior guest service.
Perform a variety of floor programs and demonstrations daily.
Contribute to The Tech's guest experience by actively participating as a member of the gallery team and give feedback about floor programs and demonstrations.
Complete tasks to prepare assigned gallery to open and close for the public daily.
Supervise and train volunteers of various ages and backgrounds.
Work with the Engineering Operations Technicians to assure that all exhibits, electronics and lighting in the gallery are functioning properly.
Maintain current knowledge about The Tech's educational programs, membership, special events, and other visitor related information.
Requirements or Key Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to present programs, scripted presentations and demonstrations while engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Excellent guest service and public speaking skills.
Interest in science and technology.
Prior experience working with the public.
Ability to set priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to be a self-starter while also being able to work in a team setting towards the completion of mutual goals.
Approachable with prior experience working with children.
Flexible availability including weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and bend and lift repeatedly to prepare floor programs for presentation.
Enrolled in or completed a degree program in science, communication, education or related field or equivalent experience desired.
Additional Qualifications
Performance and/or theater experience preferred.
Prior experience in supervising and training volunteers preferred.
Bilingual a plus.
