Labs Manager

Full Time Temporary
Position Summary 
The Labs Department Manager is an exempt position reporting to the Director, Education Programs and School Relations.  The Lab Manager manages the educational programming specific to school field trips, the school labs, afterschool programs and The Tech’s partnership with Galileo Learning. The Lab Manager supports all efforts to provide outstanding internal learning opportunities for children and adults at the museum.

Responsibilities or Duties 
Manage the interviewing, hiring and training of lab instructors for each school calendar year.
Manage the Coordinator of Educational Programs and Labs.
Manage the development, updating and distribution of field trip guides for exhibitions, IMAX films, labs and other specific programming that incorporate necessary common core and state standards for teachers.
Through scheduling, marketing and partnering with Group Reservations, maximize all lab spaces and increase total capacity of school group attendance as well as attendance for afterschool programs, Girl Scout programs, Member Birthday Parties, Teacher Pr
Manage resource development by overseeing the evaluation, tracking of metrics and preparation of summaries of accomplishments as it relates to internal learning opportunities provided by The Tech.
Represent the Operations Team to support the educational mission of The Tech through participation on various cross-department committees as assigned by the Director of Educational Programs and School Relations.
Through direction of the Director, coordinate the creation and implementation of ongoing field trip programs to maximize each school group experience.
Coordinate the partnership with Galileo Learning to ensure professional and smooth operation of The Tech Summer Camps.
Work with Galileo Learning to increase summer camp attendance and revenues.
Instruct in The Tech’s in-house labs and afterschool programs, as needed.
Work with the Learning Team of content developers to evaluate, test and remediate new curriculum as needed.
Additional duties include payroll, scheduling, coordinating supply acquisition, approving transportation reimbursements and other duties as assigned
Perform staff monthly reviews (PMMs) and yearly performance evaluations.
Responsible for updating the Labs Department areas on Google Edu Hub and The Tech website.
Maintain current knowledge about The Tech's signature programs, membership, floor programs, special events and other guest-related information.
Partner with the Director to collaborate on STEM learning initiatives as assigned to maximize content delivery.
Required to perform MOM (Museum Operations Manager of the day) duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements or Key Qualifications 
• Experience in education curriculum delivery in either an informal or formal setting.
• Experience in educational materials and curriculum development and testing.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team of professionals.
• Demonstrated PC literacy (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office suite, internet tools, and databases).
• Excellent customer service, public speaking and listening skills.
• Experience in working with the public.
• Experience in supervising and training staff.
• Ability to set priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Qualifications 
• Experience working with children and large groups of people.
• Ability to adhere to The Tech’s grooming guidelines.
• BS/BS Degree in Education or equivalent experience preferred.
