
The Tech Challenge Assistant
Full Time Temporary
Position Summary
The focus of this position is to provide overall coordination and support for The Tech Challenge which includes —(a) organizing and coordinating logistics for all details of The Tech Challenge event day (b) outreach to possible participants to increase the number of teams participating and meet goals and (c) providing general administrative support for The Tech Challenge Department. The Tech Challenge Assistant reports to the Program Director of The Tech Challenge. This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities or Duties
Communicate the museum’s mission and the goals of the Signature Program to sponsors, educators, staff, volunteers and potential participants to generate excitement and understanding, meet attendance targets and meet budgetary goals.
Coordinate and manage details and logistics for all clinics, workshops, trainings and trials leading up to the event day.
Coordinate and manage logistics for The Tech Challenge event day.
Perform administrative and office support activities to ensure proper paperwork flow through the department.
Under the direction of The Tech Challenge Program Director, participate in and manage outreach to possible participants.
Using the current school field trip rosters, contact and reach out to schools that have visited or will visit the museum to recruit teams.
Perform clerical work including fielding telephone calls, word processing, filing, and faxing.
Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system.
Research, price, and purchase supplies for event day.
Setup and coordinate meetings.
Understand customer service expectations and general museum policies. • Follow The Tech’s safety guidelines.
Meet The Tech’s grooming guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements or Key Qualifications
Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
High School diploma required, pursuing or possessing a BA or BS preferred
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and engage staff through all levels of an organization.
Outgoing personality with the ability to communicate programs to a diverse audience.
Excellent computer skills required with the ability to learn new applications.
Excellent problem solver with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to multi-task and coordinate and implement diverse activities simultaneously.
Ability to communicate and speak with students of all ages and backgrounds.
Valid California driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Ability to travel by car to various school locations in Santa Clara and surrounding counties and carry and set up promotional materials as required.
Additional Qualifications
Flexible schedule with ability to work weekends and evenings as necessary for achievement of goals, delivery of programs and meetings with volunteers.
Salary
$14-$16 per hour
