Press Release Date
Monday, 1 August, 2011
Rock out with DJ Conduit Robotic as The Tech Museum transforms into a swanky Silicon Valley nightspot with pounding beats and flowing drinks for the 21-and-older crowd. No, this isn't a new nightclub - it's The Tech Museum After Hours, where on the first Wednesday of each month we turn up the heat, featuring the hottest music, food and social events. Come Wednesday, the museum presents "Music & Games Galore," a night of Wii games, Nintendo, and lots more board games. Come sip on a glow-in-the-dark "Tech-tini" or munch on snacks from our café menu as you nod your head to local DJ Conduit Robotic spinning the hottest house, dub step and electro mixes. Shuffling not your style? Well then, explore the entire museum under moody blue lighting, mingle with new people and learn about science and technology in our exciting galleries. Each month, the museum will raise the volume and bring out the fun with cool, themed events. Upcoming soirees include "DNA with a Twist," "Super-Powered Pajama Party," "Cosmos Under the Cosmos" and "Tinker and Drinker." Last month, more than 400 people enjoyed our premiere themed nighttime event: Game Night. Guests competed for prizes playing old-school Nintendo - guiding Super Mario ever toward his princess or kicked it with Street Fighter II - on a 25-foot screen surrounded by 13,000 watts of wrap-around digital sound in The Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater. Others tried their hands at 4-foot tall Jenga style blocks, giant Tic Tac Toe, and monster-size foam dominoes, among dozens of other games. Presented by homefrys, the fun starts at 6 p.m. and spins until 11 p.m., a full hour longer as requested by partygoers. For more information or to buy tickets please call +1 (408) 294-8324.
