Press Release Date
Monday, 23 September, 2013
SAN JOSE, CA – The Tech Awards, presented by Applied Materials, is a signature program of the Tech Museum of Innovation that honors innovators from around the world who use technology to benefit humanity.

Each year, the museum brings The Tech Awards laureates to Silicon Valley for a week of activities designed to expose them to potential funders, social entrepreneurs, corporate executives, media, researchers, students, and many others. The museum commissions films about the laureates, holds workshops, offers speaking and networking opportunities, connects laureates to Silicon Valley mentors, and hosts a conference.

The week culminates with The Tech Awards Gala on November 14 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, where two cash prizes are awarded - $75,000 and $25,000 - in each of five categories: Intel Environment Award; Microsoft Education Award; The Swanson Foundation Young Innovator Award; Nokia Health Award, and Flextronics Economic Development Award.

Since the inception of The Tech Awards program in 2001, 257 laureates have been recognized. On Tuesday, Sept. 24, we will induct 10 more leading lights into The Tech Awards family.
