Easily accessible via Light Rail, Bus, Car, Caltrain ********************************************************** CURRENT TEMPORARY EXHIBIT Grossology, now only through January 4, 2004 Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body is a science-in-disguise exhibition where kids (and the young at heart) get the answers to many of the slimy, oozy, crusty, stinky questions they absolutely love to ask about the human body! This exhibit has more than 20 interactive displays and games, and uses sophisticated animatronics and imaginative exhibits to tell you the good, the bad and the downright ugly about runny noses, body odor and much more. CURRENT IMAX FILMS New IMAX Film, now only through January 4!: Santa Vs. The Snowman This season, see the first ever IMAX animated holiday feature – Santa Vs. The Snowman. IMAX delivers a wildly revolutionary Yuletide story for the new millennium – the perfect accompaniment to your visit to downtown San Jose this holiday season! This new must-see holiday tradition from Steve Oedekerk features the voices of Jonathan Winters, Ben Stein and Victoria Jackson. New IMAX Film, December 26 through February 6: Young Black Stallion A team of top filmmakers join forces for this exciting new installment of a family favorite that has captured the imaginations of millions of readers and moviegoers. Disney's first dramatic adventure made expressly for the giant screen is a magnificent and thrilling tale that is a prequel to the 1979 motion picture "The Black Stallion." Ongoing: Lewis & Clark: Complete with stunning aerial cinematography and meticulous historical recreations, Lewis & Clark dramatizes the legendary early 19th-century expedition that crossed the uncharted North American West. Also showing: Top Speed SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS Ongoing: Segway Human Transporter You've seen it in the news, now try it out yourself! Take a ride on the Segway Human Transporter, daily from 2-3 p.m. *Riders must be over 16 years old and weigh between 100 and 250 pounds* January 04 Weekends, Starting January 17: Robots @ Work & Play Join us at The Tech to expore the world of robots ant work and play. Learn how robots are being used to do tasks that are either too dangerous, repetitive or dull for humans – anything from manufacturing lines, toxic waste cleanup, space and deep-sea exploration to medical robotics assisting in minimal invasive surgeries. You can even buy robots as "pets". Stop by our Robot Corral to see the amazing vacuuming robot and our AIBO Dog, then join ZaZa and Chachi for a museum tour. Feature speakers include CalTech's Center for Neuromorphic Systems Engineering, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA Ames Research Center and Marshall Brain of the "How Stuff Works" series. How do you fit into this emerging robotic world? COMING IN FEBRUARY 2004 New Exhibit Opening January 30, 2004: Engineer It! Visitors of all ages will have a great time designing boats, buildings, bridges, windmills, and airplanes, and testing their performance in water tanks, earthquake simulators, and wind tunnels. Engineer It! is a highly interactive traveling exhibition that presents science as an open-ended discovery process; there are no write or wrong answers. Every station offers a fun and challenging activity where visitors are encouraged to "think it, build it, and test it."
