Part Time Position Available
Motion Simulator Ride Operator (Part Time Temporary)

The primary responsibility of the Motion Simulator Ride Operator is to operate the controls of our motion simulator attractions in a safe, efficient and courteous manner. This Team Member also assures that the ride and the area around the ride remains clean and attractive throughout the day. The Ride Operator also sells and collects admission tickets for the simulators and will assist in the operation of the Guest Services department as a whole.

Responsibilities

Properly assist each guest in safely riding our motion simulator attractions.
Greeting the guest at the entry of the ride; explaining the limitations and restrictions to the guest; seating the guest in the ride; securing safety restraints; and operating the ride.
Must be able to perform duties of all assigned positions including operating controls, watching the ride, communicating safety instructions to guests, and cleaning the entire ride area.
Enforces rider requirements and follows proper procedures as outlined in the attractions Standard Operating Procedure.
Complete opening and closing duties as assigned and testing ride daily before opening ride to guests.
Collect ride tickets from guests for admission and operate a cash register to sell ride tickets at the simulator location.
Offer superior service to potential and actual guests to the museum according to established procedures.
Greet and interact with guests enthusiastically and proactively.
Provide general information about The Tech, its programs, IMAX Theater and exhibits courteously.
Work collaboratively with other Guest Services staff, other museum staff and volunteers to provide an efficient and seamless experience for guests.
Maintain high standards in general housekeeping to provide an inviting and friendly atmosphere.
In the event of an emergency, assist with all necessary crisis management and follow directed procedures to ensure staff, volunteer and guest safety.
Assist in other Museum Operations Group departments when needed.
Other tasks as assigned by department management.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to pass all required screenings.
One or more years of ride operations and/or retail customer service experience.
Must be able to read, understand and interpret operating and safety manuals and procedures.
Outgoing, positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with the public and especially children.
Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor.
Ability to work as part of the Museum Operations team as well as accomplish work independently.
Ability to adhere to The Tech's grooming guidelines and provide a professional appearance.
Punctual with the ability to adhere to scheduled shifts.
Accurate cash handling skills.
Computer literate (Windows, Microsoft Office internet).
Flexible availability including daytime, evenings, weekends and major holidays.
Prior experience with point-of-sale cash handling systems preferred.
Prior experience in public speaking desired.
Able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. •Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, lift and reach repeatedly.
Able stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Ability to express information verbally and in writing.
Ability to hear and respond to audible alerts.
Ability to grasp objects, pick up objects and hold objects.
Ability to work both indoors and/or outdoors for extended periods of time.
