Part Time Position Available
Gallery Interpreter (Part Time Temporary)

The Gallery Interpreter position is part of the Gallery Experiences team and is responsible for delivering high energy, interactive gallery experiences on the floor of the museum on a daily basis. High emphasis is on providing excellent and relevant guest service and floor demonstrations for the museum's diverse attendance through individual efforts and by training and directing volunteers. This is a temporary position estimated to end on October 24,2010.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and communicate with the public and ensure superior guest service.
  • Perform a variety of floor programs and demonstrations daily.
  • Contribute to The Tech's guest experience by actively participating as a member of the gallery team and give feedback about floor programs and demonstrations.
  • Complete tasks to prepare assigned gallery to open and close for the public daily.
  • Supervise and train volunteers of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Work with the Engineering Operations Technicians to assure that all exhibits, electronics and lighting in the gallery are functioning properly.
  • Maintain current knowledge about The Tech's educational programs, membership, special events, and other visitor related information.
  • Actively engage in the understanding of various exhibits, their functioning and the background of the topic presented through participation in formal and informal trainings and exposure to the exhibits in all assigned galleries.
  • Provide input regarding guest experiences, guest feedback and volunteer input to Gallery Experiences management.
  • Assist with the collection of guest feedback used to improve The Tech experience.
  • Attend staff and volunteer briefings, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Flexible availability including afternoons, evenings, weekends and major holidays.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
