Volunteering at The Tech

Tech volunteers have provided over 200,000 hours of service, in a variety of roles. Our volunteers are the heart of The Tech! They contribute their talents, knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, and energy to our educational institution and, in turn, provide an invaluable service to our community.

Welcome visitors to our exciting exhibit galleries
Answer questions, perform demonstrations, and help visitors have a fun experience
"Inspire The Innovator" in every museum visitor

Who can volunteer at The Tech?

Anyone age 15 years or older. No science background or technical training is required.
Individuals with an interest in learning about science and technology
Individuals who enjoy meeting new people!

What can I do?

Here is a list of current opportunities:

Exhibit Explainers: Exhibit Explainers interact with museum guests of all ages by assisting guests to explore exhibits and sharing their knowledge of the science/technology behind the exhibits. They may also perform interactive science and technology demonstrations. A science/technology background is helpful but not required to become a Tech volunteer as training is provided. All that is required is a strong interest in science and technology plus the ability to communicate with people of all ages and background.

There are openings in February for weekday daytime volunteers. High school students are invited to apply to be placed on a waiting list.

Mondays - Fridays 8:30am - 1:00pm or 12:30pm - 5:00pm.

How much time will I have to commit?

We request a minimum commitment of one (1) year, eight (8) hours per month. The schedule is flexible. Some volunteers work with us on a weekly basis and some every other weekend. Volunteers may work either a morning or afternoon shift.
