What's the problem with Hubble's vision?
|

The Primary Mirror in the Hubble has a defect called a spherical aberration.
Spherical aberration means that Hubble can't focus light properly. The primary mirror is the heart of the telescope's light focusing system. When it was made, the glass for the mirror was carefully ground and polished to a near perfect surface. The problem was, it was ground into the wrong shape! So what did NASA do about it? |
