Seventeen year old Jay Chien, a junior at Leland High School, was born under the Chinese zodiac animal of the ram, which means that he is supposed to be a good artist, like nice things, be very wise and be the kind of person who asks many questions. "But, as with all designs in life, nothing is ever produced as planned," he says. "I'm far from a being a good artist."
Rather, Chien's interests include creative writing and music. He plays both violin and piano, and listens to everything from classical to techno-acoustic fusion. He also enjoys basketball, tennis, badminton, skiing and surfing the net. A volunteer at the Tech Museum of Innovation, Chien's expertise with computers landed him the job of computer editor for his school's journalism staff.
But Jay figures that his zodiac is right about one thing: "I happen to be a very curious sort of person."
