about the artist
Marque Cornblatt was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1966 and currently resides in San Francisco. He has a diploma in Theater Technology from the Baltimore School of the Arts and a B.F.A. in Film and Video Production from New York University. He has created mechanical sculptures, video sculptures, and aquatic and robotic performances.

In 1996 Cornblatt developed S.P.A.R.C. 1 (Self-Portrait Artifact, Roving Chassis 1), a two-way wireless rover that interacts with audiences remotely. The artist frequently used S.P.A.R.C. 1 to "mingle" at openings of his video and mechanical sculptures. Cornblatt is working on S.P.A.R.C. 2, which he hopes will be "a ‘transhuman entity’ who interacts with real people, in real space, blurring the distinction between human and machine."
