Conductors and insulators

And in SOME materials, the resistance is SO high that the electrons can't really move at all! Electrons can't flow, and so . . . no electricity. Something that can't conduct electricity is called an insulator.

You may have noticed that many electrical cords are wrapped in a plastic or rubber coating. That's because rubber and plastic are very good insulators-they protect people from too much electricity.
