If you have been paying attention to the scientific news recently, you have probably heard about cloning. A sheep named Dolly made the front page of newspapers around the world when she was born. Dolly was special because she was the first clone made from the genetic material of an ADULT cell.

Scientists have been using cells from EMBRYOS to clone animals for years but making a clone from the information in an adult cell was thought to be impossible. Since a true clone is an organism made from the genetic information from another adult organism, Dolly is considered the first true clone. (Even though identical twins have the same genetic information they are not technically clones.)
