Christmas in the Park
The Tech Museum of Innovation is delighted to be a sponsor of Christmas in the Park. Christmas in the Park is an annual holiday tradition that takes place in the heart of Downtown San José at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez. For over 30 years, this whimsical event has brought people from all over the Bay Area together during the holidays.
Each year, the two-acre park is transformed into a holiday fantasy with over 60 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights and the 60-foot Community Giving Tree. Some of the original displays housed in one of the largest exhibits, the Lima Train, include a melting snowman, caroling mice and elf woodcrafters. The Victorian Village is a 25-foot Christmas tree surrounded by the animated Nutcracker Suite exhibit and Santa's Photo Den. Guests enter a winter wonderland of lights, songs and local entertainment while strolling through an enchanted forest of trees decorated by San José schools, community groups and businesses.
Holiday Hat Trick
The “holiday hat trick” returns for the second time. For $25, adults can enjoy skating at Downtown Ice ($15 value), and gain admission to the San Jose Museum of Art ($8 value) and The Tech ($15 value) for $25, a savings of more than 33 percent. Pick up the “Hat Trick" vouchers at any of the three attractions. Visitors to The Tech can choose to see the museum or the museum and MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition.
Holiday Tech Decor
This year, The Tech will have a community tree gleefuly and geekfuly decorated with the spirit of silicon valley. We will also decorate the lobby and the museum entrances with christmas trees design with specific themes such as IMAX and MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition.
Christmas Myths Shows
Speaking of MythBusters, The Tech is doing Christmas myth testing performances on the Entertainment Stage at Christmas in the Park! These performances will be on the following dates and times:
November 24 at 8:00 p.m.
November 30 at 7:00 p.m.
December 1 at 8:00 p.m.
December 7 at 7:00 p.m.
December 8 at 8:00 p.m.
December 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Animated Light Show
We are providing some technical assistance for the park's existing lighting animation system. We studied their existing physical system and software to helped put together a controller system to synchronize some lighting effects and motor control with their background music. The programming included about 73 channels of lighting and motor devices. We hope you enjoy the light show!
The Tech Booth
The Tech will also have a booth where you can purchase discounted tickets and try hands-on Christmas science activities. The booth will run from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m. on December 22, 23, 29, and 30.
