This Hands-On Science Workshop draws inspiration from The Tech Museum’s blockbuster exhibit, Ingenious Innovations: Islamic Science Rediscovered, and the IMAX movie Arabia.
 
We all know that Silicon Valley is an innovative place. But do you know about the amazing inventions and discoveries that came out of the Islamic Golden Age of science and technology?
 
From the 8th to the 18th century, Muslim scientists drew upon ideas from various cultures, from Greece to India, and in turn produced a fountain of ideas that watered the multi-cultural roots of modern science and technology, ultimately leading to the technological ingenuity and innovative mindset that defines Silicon Valley today.

Design and build a water-raising device using simple machines.

Balance a mobile with colorful geometric shapes, and solve an algebraic equation at the same time.  Discover how Hindu-Arabic numerals and the power of zero transformed the world.

Take-Out Pinhole Camera
Make your own pinhole camera and peer into The Tech Camera Obscura to view some strange properties of light.
