Additional Learning Programs
The Tech Challenge
A signature program of The Tech Museum of Innovation, The Tech Challenge is an annual team design challenge for students in grades 5-12 that introduces and reinforces the scientific and engineering process with a hands-on project geared to solving a real-world problem.
Designed to provide months of project-based learning in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), The Tech Challenge further engages your students in science and inspires the next generation of Silicon Valley innovators. The program culminates in The Tech Challenge Event Day, where team efforts are celebrated in an awards ceremony, recognizing everything from Best Overall Solution to Most Spectacular Failure.
Meets California Science, Math, Social Science, and Language Arts Content Standards.
The Tech Summer Camps
Welcome to the ultimate summer camp for aspiring young scientists, engineers and inventors! Brought to you by Galileo Learning, The Tech Summer Camps provide kids entering grades 4–8 with an ideal mix of learning and fun.
The Tech Summer Camps offer 20 hands-on science and technology classes, with innovative curriculum and a variety of areas to explore, whether you’re a computer, technology, and design devotee, or a budding builder, inventor, or scientist.
The program is offered mid-June to mid-August, and features an exceptional staff with experienced, enthusiastic instructors, 6:1 camper to staff ratio, and lots more.
Girl Scout Programs
The Tech’s Girl Scout Programs are designed just for Girl Scout Troops. Visit our galleries with your troops, see a film in The Hackworth IMAX® Dome Theater, or earn a badge with our new programs designed for the new badge and journey system.
Girls use everyday objects to explore static electricity, make something bubble up to inflate a balloon, and make silly putty!
Entertainment Technology Badge - Amusement Innovator (Juniors)
Sharpen your skills of observation with brain challenging puzzles, discover how to obtain and analyze fingerprints, and learn how to extract real DNA.
Special Agent Badge (Cadettes)
Girls analyze and compare fingerprints, sketch a “suspect” as described by a “key witness,” and analyze an ink stain.
Family Math & Engineering
Grades K through 5
Make Math Fun!
Family Math & Engineering is a 4-week series of free Bilingual Spanish classes for families. Through engaging math activities, parents learn to reinforce mathematical skills students need to succeed in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) subjects. Families get their hands on math, while having fun and developing logical thinking, spatial reasoning, creative problem solving, and number sense together.
Participants leverage the design process, as they brainstorm, collaborate, design, and build their way to creative solutions. Design challenges allow students to get an intuitive sense of mathematics, practice creative strategies for solving problems, and develop the innovative thinking skills and mindset they’ll need to solve math problems and prepare for career success in the 21st century.
