Additional Learning Programs

The Tech Challenge
A signature program of The Tech Museum, The Tech Challenge is an annual team design challenge for students in grades 5-12 that introduces and reinforces the scientific and engineering process with a hands-on project geared to solving a real-world problem.

Designed to provide months of project-based learning in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), The Tech Challenge further engages your students in science and inspires the next generation of Silicon Valley innovators. The program culminates in The Tech Challenge Event Day, where team efforts are celebrated in an awards ceremony, recognizing everything from Best Overall Solution to Most Spectacular Failure.

Meets California Science, Math, Social Science, and Language Arts Content Standards.

Family Math & Engineering
Grades K through 5
Make Math Fun!

Family Math & Engineering is a 6-week series of free Bilingual Spanish classes for families.  Through engaging math activities, parents learn to reinforce mathematical skills students need to succeed in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) subjects.  Families get their hands on math, while having fun and developing logical thinking, spatial reasoning, creative problem solving, and number sense together.

Participants leverage the design process, as they brainstorm, collaborate, design, and build their way to creative solutions.  Design challenges allow students to get an intuitive sense of mathematics, practice creative strategies for solving problems, and develop the innovative thinking skills and mindset they’ll need to solve math problems and prepare for career success in the 21st century.
