The Tech Community Partners program is at the very core of The Tech's educational mission. The Tech Museum is committed to building capacity for local community based youth organizations to make a difference in the lives of underserved youth, particularly those from low socio-economic backgrounds, English language learners, and girls.

The overarching goal of the Community Partners program is to deliver powerful learning experiences that stimulate critical thinking, build new skills, and motivate young people to engage in additional science and technology-based educational activities and courses. The Tech's mission to "inspire the innovator in everyone" is reflected in our signature approach to teaching and learning, Design Challenge. These fun and exciting activities challenge teams of students to work through the design process to solve relevant, real-world problems.
Each partnership is designed to meet the needs and missions of the partnering institutions. Youth can participate in design challenge activities during a visit to the museum or as part of an outreach van visit to their site. In addition, The Tech offers a variety of professional development activities for youth leaders focused on design challenge facilitation. In addition to bringing design challenges to community organizations, The Tech also supports design challenge activities in schools through the District Partnership Program. Through these and other community learning efforts, The Tech brings design challenge activities to area youth and builds institutional capacity within the partner organization to make design challenge an integral part of their program offerings.
