District Partnership Program
More info available Spring, 2002
The Tech District Partnership Program allows The Tech and school districts serving low-income, minority students to develop and deliver "custom" experiences for students and teachers related to museum content. Further, these programs will build capacity within districts to increase the frequency and enhance the quality of hands-on, problem-based, design challenge science curriculum for all students. The purpose is to move schools away from the traditional "museum field trip" modeltypically a one-time opportunity at the end of the year as a reward for good behaviortowards an extended, connected, and ongoing relationship.
Goals
- Provide more and better access to museum learning for low income and minority students
- Reshape how teaching and learning occurs in schools by inspiring teachers to implement more hands-on, interactive learning experiences for both teachers and students
- Create longer and more coherent learning experiences for both teachers and students
