Communication Gallery
Lower Level
Find out how communications technology extends our capacity to work together, build communities, stay informed about the world and express our creativity.
The following highlights describe theme areas and how they align with the California Science Framework , as shown in * ( ).
Televideo Tower *(technology, sound energy, optics)
Connect with other visitors with the roving teleconferencing system that moves up and down the three-level
atrium. The wandering camera and microphone become your "eyes" and "ears" as you virtually
introduce yourself to others via a monitor workstation.
Cyberchat *(systems and interactions, technology)
Socialize 'Silicon Valley' style and enjoy the special of the day at the Electronic Cafe.
"Dine" at one of 12 tables in the Cafe and sample e-mail, chat groups and virtual environments. Join
fellow Cafe patrons in 3-D environment as an avatar (or, cartoon identity), to chat in a cyber-world shown on a
rear projected screen that extends the cafe.

Information Explosion *(technology, physical science, energy)
Get swept up in the swirl of information that engulfs us everyday by standing at ground zero of the Information
Explosion: a circular enclosure with a descending spiral of 20 monitors and 5 LED panels alive with video
images and texts mounted in front of a busy collage of print information.
