Michelle Steever
Hoover Middle School
Michelle Steever has been a learning guide/teacher for seven years at Hoover Middle School and three years in elementary school (she even had a brief stint teaching pre-school). She has taught ESL Science, General Science, Jr. Engineering, Algebra, GATE, and Integrated Math-Science. Before becoming a teacher, Michelle was a materials and process engineer at Westinghouse. The Design Challenge model that the Tech features is a natural fit to Michelle's personal philosophy of education - creating, investigating, and reflecting- and allows her to blend her current and past lives together.
"The Tech Fellowship has allowed me to network intra- and inter-district, provided opportunities to collaborate with an external support network (the museum), as well as train other teachers to use Design Challenges in their classrooms."
