Sylvia Davis
Rolling Hills Middle School
Sylvia began her relationship with the Tech Museum in 1995 as an employee in the Wet Lab while working on her teaching credential. While she enjoyed helping students on field trips learn through exploration in the labs, Sylvia found herself wanting to develop extended relationships with students that the one-hour lab format couldn't offer. She decided to become a classroom teacher at Rolling Hills Middle School. Now life has come full-circle and Sylvia is reconnected with The Tech as a Tech Fellow.
"The Tech Fellowship program and Design Challenge encompasses my ideals of engaging students through hand-on activities to increase their knowledge in science. We want them to want to learn more. Our hope is to increase the number of students who pursue a career in science, especially the number of under-represented youth in the scientific community."
