The Tech's Got 'Bots

In honor of the new cutting-edge era of robot human interaction, The Tech celebrated all things robotic with special robot programming and special guests throughout the museum throughout the day.



Schedule

11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Hear from Intuitive Automata’s founder Cory Kidd and learn about their health care social robot.
 
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ask questions and learn from a social-robot expert.
 
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Interact with NAO, an autonomous, programmable humanoid robot, and jam along to your favorite tunes! NAO will be performing human-robot interactions throughout the day with dances, face following, and speech recognition.
 
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Come see Play-i’s Bo & Yana – new toy robots designed to teach the basics of computer programming and problem solving through hands-on play. Program Bo the robot to play a xylophone with Play-i founders.

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 
Learn and engage with RUBI-5, an interactive robot platform and hear from the project’s developers. The goal of the RUBI project is to explore interactive robot technology to deliver educational materials to children.
 
12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Interact and learn with Autom, Intuitive Automata’s health care social robot.
 
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Visit and interact with our robot petting zoo where Furby and Pleo will be strutting their stuff. Engage with these social robots and see how they respond to your actions. Walk through the Furby and Pleo exhibits to learn more about what makes them so very social.
 
2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Learn about the next generation of robots - not designed on the assembly line, but in your home or office. Hear from guest speaker Professor Andrea Thomaz from Georgia Tech on how robots can learn to intelligently interact with humans.
 
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Program a human robot to perform in our RoboTheater! You'll program the robot with input, output, and style commands to create an unforgettable performance. Then, take a turn as the human robot, and let other guests program you!
 
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
