Stanford's Genetics department leads hands-on activities weekdays at the museum. Try your hand at DNA spooling from animal cells and look at your own DNA from cheek cells under a microscope. Figure out what 1000 letters of your DNA look like, or solve a mystery by looking at “DNA” patterns using tools of forensic scientists.
Location: On the Upper Level bridge
Tuesday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (November - August)
Genetics Wet Lab
Stanford's Genetics department has developed a hands-on lab experience for your students where they get to follow simple steps and do real genetic engineering! Using the same technique scientists use to make certain medicines like insulin, they’ll insert jellyfish DNA into bacteria to make glowing bacteria.
Location: Wet Lab inside The Tech Health and BioTech Gallery
Daily: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Visit Understanding Genetics for more genetics learning.
