Press Release Date
Tuesday, October 25, 2011
SAN JOSE, SILICON VALLEY, Calif., Tuesday October 25 - Michael Nielsen, pioneer of quantum computing and author of "Reinventing Discovery", comes to The Tech Museum on November 1st, to introduce us to a new era of science. As we grow and thrive in a world where the Internet revolves around everything we do, science has evolved using the social tools of today to revolutionize scientific discovery.
In "Reinventing Discovery", Nielsen states we are living during one of the most dramatic times for change in science in more that 300 years. With a number of books out talking how the web is changing business, this book questions something more - how the Internet is changing the way we understand the world.
Learn more about the new era of networked science as he discusses how mathematicians in the Polymath Project are coming together online to tackle previously unsolved issues. Understand how 250,00 astronomers are collaborating in a project called Galaxy Zoo to better understand the Universe and making discoveries like entirely new galaxies. "Reinventing Discovery" is the story of how the Internet is revolutionizing the way scientists are working to solve problems and increase our brainpower as a whole. The book shows how the online world is revolutionizing scientific discovery today - and that this revolution is only beginning.
