The Tech in Kenya: Teacher Training
Model of Scale: Low cost, high impact, sustainable, scalable
As part of the program, teachers participate in a blend of in-person workshops, online modules, and flexible, locally-adapted training schedules. They experience Design Challenge Learning firsthand and reflect on how to integrate it into their existing curriculum with locally available resources. With experienced Kenyan educators as the leaders of the program implementation, the framework is applied to local problems and student interests, strengthening cultural relevance. When Kenyan teachers become the experts, innovation reflects Kenyan problems, Kenyan materials, and Kenyan aspirations. Students see solutions rooted in their own communities, building STEM their identity and making learning more meaningful, empowering, and transformative.
