In 2015 The Tech was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the highest honor for a U.S. museum. President and CEO Tim Ritchie accepted the medal from First Lady Michelle Obama in a White House ceremony, along with Maria Arias Evans, the principal of Washington Elementary in San Jose and a close partner of ours. The Institute for Museum and Library Service awards the medals each year to five museums and five libraries that show exceptional dedication to their communities.
“The Tech is committed to working with local institutions to build a better community,” said Tim Ritchie, President and CEO of The Tech. “We deeply believe that people have within them all the creative problem-solving power the world needs to overcome the challenges we face. It is our joy to partner with schools, families, local government and business to light a fire in people, especially young people, that will propel them to success in a technology-driven age.”
