The Place Where Innovation Happens

  • by Tim Ritchie on April 9, 2013
I want to invite you to imagine a new generation of science centers.
Inside are spaces that offer open-ended design challenges that are collaborative and social, that focus on applied technology and that can be experienced at multiple levels on multiple visits.
These are spaces for reflection, prototyping, experimenting, failing fast and getting better. They focus as much on what visitors bring to the experience as the experience itself. They also host the most influential speakers in tech, Silicon Valley’s latest inventions and budding tech entrepreneurs.
The spaces – which are, themselves, invitations to innovate – span over 30,000 square feet, by far the most space in any museum anywhere devoted to open-ended design challenge learning.
Imagine all this and you have imagined what will happen in the lower level of The Tech over the next 5 years.
Tech 3.0, our museum’s campaign to reimagine itself, holds the promise of ushering in an entirely new kind of museum. This new Tech will become a living resource for innovation.  People who walk through our doors will find the tools, spaces, and inspiration that they need to unleash the innovator in them.
Going forward, I have invited our team members of The Tech to use this space to share with you their projects, programs and updates on the great work that is transforming this institution.
The next-generation science center is happening at The Tech. Please join us on this bold new adventure.
