Badge Programs @ The Tech Museum of Innovation

Join us at The Tech for Skill-Building Badge programs for Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes!
All Junior and Cadette programs include 3 of the 5 steps to complete the badge.  We have provided resources below to help troop leaders complete the remaining steps for girls to earn their badges.

Each program runs 2 hours in length.

Brownie Program
Home Scientist Badge
*This program includes all 5 steps in the Home Scientist Badge and includes the badge.
Science is all around us! Brownies begin by making raisins and pepper dance using the amazing properties of density and electricity. Next, they become kitchen chemists and use every day pantry items to experiment with delicious treats and blow up a balloon using no breath.  Finally, Brownies will learn how science can be used to make toys by making their very own silly putty!

Junior Programs
Entertainment Technology Badge-Amusement Innovator
Are you ready to design your own entertainment company? Juniors begin by learning about classic animation styles and then get to animate their own artwork.  Next, they build prototypes of rollercoasters while learning the science behind the screams.  Finally, Juniors make custom 3-D glasses and learn how to make their own 3-D images!
*If possible, please bring a portable thumb drive to save your animation and 3-D work.

Detective Badge-Tech Detective
Do you have what it takes to be a Tech Detective? Juniors begin by sharpening their observation skills through brain challenging puzzles.  Next, they learn how to obtain and analyze fingerprints from a crime scene. Finally, Juniors learn about DNA-what it is, what it does, and how it helps solve crimes.  They then get to perform an experiment to extract real DNA!

Cadette Program
Special Agent Badge
In this program, Cadettes will try on the many hats of a Special Agent! To begin, Cadettes will investigate the investigation techniques of a fingerprint analyst by analyzing and comparing fingerprints.  Next, they will practice the art of forensic drawing by sketching a “suspect” as described by a “key witness.”  Finally, Cadettes try their hands at forensic chemistry to identify an ink stain found at a crime scene.
