Sympathetic Resonance (2009) is a large-scale electro-acoustic instrument utilizing 56 wooden marimba keys played from a touch-sensitive keyboard. Play the keyboard just as you would a piano; each key activates a corresponding rotary solenoid, which causes a mallet to strike a marimba key. Tuned resonator tubes hung beneath each key amplify the key’s vibration, acoustically deepening and enriching the sound.
