Information Technologies Intern

The Tech Museum of Innovation is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, and outgoing college students with Computer Science, Information Systems, or Management Information Systems experience for an exciting internship with our Information Technologies department. These interns will be exposed to a broad range of IT aspects.  This intern position reports to the Director of Information Technologies.

IT interns will be engaged in a range of activities to assist the IT area ranging from helping set up systems to record keeping.  Each quarter (winter, spring, summer and fall) we will be looking to fill this intern position and we are asking for a minimum 3 month internship commitment. 


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the IT department with first line response to users requesting IT support
  • Assist the IT department with responding to requests for technical assistance by phone or email 
  • Help log resolution of IT issues in to the help desk management system and update internal knowledge base 
  • Assist in the set up and maintaining of information systems as needed 
  • This individual will work with, not only IT team, but with other museum staff as well 
  • Escalate more involved issues to the System Administrator or Director of Information Technologies 
  • Provide record keeping support as needed 
  • Assist tracking IT inventory 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Majoring in a computer science, MIS, information systems or related field
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow with department
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • General knowledge of networking principles and IP telephony
  • Available during weekday, business hours
  • Must commit to volunteer a minimum of at least two days a week for 3-4  months
  • Must pass a criminal background check
Note: This will be a non-paid internship, but it is rich in experience.
