STEM Pathways is an extension of The Tech Academies program that supports school districts in developing a strategic STEM plan to ensure all students have access to quality STEM education. Just as importantly, STEM Pathways connects districts to community partners who can help them to implement this plan. By ensuring K-12 STEM access and uniting community STEM efforts, we are lighting the paths that will build critical skills for pursuing the career of their choice.
Overview
This collaborative program is designed to support mutually beneficial relationships between Tech Academy schools, their K-12 districts, and diverse community organizations. Pathway teams are encouraged to focus on the unique needs and assets in their community. Our objective is to extend access to foundational STEM education to all students that travel through Tech Academy partner districts.
The STEM Pathways program provides:
- Opportunity and encouragement to collaborate across the school district and community.
- Support to develop a district-wide understanding of quality STEM.
- Guidance on creating and implementing a district-wide STEM strategy.
- Evolving digital tools and models to support district STEM plan development.
STEM Pathways Steering Committee
Our STEM Pathways Steering Committee is made up of about 20 members from diverse community sectors including industry, higher education, K-12 formal and informal education and STEM-rich organizations, all seeking to expand access to quality STEM to all students. This group meets regularly to develop the theory of change, vision and strategy for the STEM Pathways program. These individuals donate their time and energy to making our community a place that fosters home-grown talent and diversifies the face of innovation in Silicon Valley.
