The Tech Interactive Updates Public Hours Beginning June 10
Dear San Jose Community,
The Tech Interactive is making an important shift to our operating schedule to stay strong for the future and continue serving the San Jose community.
Beginning June 10, 2026, The Tech will move to a five-day operating week and will be closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Our updated public hours are as follows:
Public Summer Hours (June 10, 2026 to August 9, 2026)
Wednesday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
School Year Hours (September 2, 2026 to June 9, 2027)
Wednesday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This decision reflects a thoughtful and proactive step to ensure that we remain strong, sustainable, and focused on delivering the highest-impact experiences for our community.
Like many museums and cultural institutions, we are navigating a changing landscape shaped by the long-term effects of the pandemic, rising operating costs, and shifts in public and philanthropic funding.
At the same time, we are seeing significant changes in education. Declining school enrollment, reduced federal support for Title I schools, and local school closures have affected field trip participation across the region. In response, we remain firmly committed to access and equity in education. We will continue to offer low-cost field trips and are planning new investments in outreach and educator programs to ensure our mission reaches students and families, both inside The Tech and beyond our walls.
The Tech has been sustained by our community since the beginning, and your support matters now more than ever. Making donations of any size, purchasing tickets, becoming a member, and sharing our programs with friends and family are all meaningful ways to help us keep our doors open and continue to provide accessible, hands-on learning experiences for the people who need them most.
We are grateful to our community for standing with us as we navigate this moment together. Science is real. It matters. And everyone deserves access.
