The Tech Interactive Unveils Polar Play Days
New Winter Celebration Brings a Flurry of Fun, Science, and Holiday Cheer to Downtown San Jose
Nov. 23, 2024, San Jose, CA —This holiday season, experience the magic of winter with a scientific twist during The Tech Interactive’s Polar Play Days, running from Nov. 23, 2024, to Jan. 5, 2025. This family-friendly event blends creativity, hands-on experiments, and joyful holiday adventures in the heart of downtown San Jose.
- Opening Week (Nov. 23 – Dec. 1): Kick off the season with DIY eco-friendly festive garlands, holiday craft workshops, and the Molecular Meals: Holiday Dinner Workshop (Nov. 29 – Dec. 1).
- Winter WonderLabs (Dec. 7-8 & Dec. 14-15): Create a snowstorm in a jar, engineer candy houses, and meet a paleontologist to learn about the dinosaurs of Antarctica.
- Polar Play Sock Skating (Dec. 21 – Jan. 5): Slide across the brand-new Sock Skating Rink, build ice castles, and participate in hands-on wintry innovation challenges.

Polar Play Days admission includes a ticket to one of the many daily IMAX documentaries, such as Antarctica, Arctic: Our Frozen Planet, or Blue Whales. Extend your visit with feature films like Wicked (Nov. 22 - Dec. 5), Gladiator II (Nov. 21-24) or Interstellar (Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 10-12). The IMAX Dome Theater at The Tech Interactive features an immersive 900 square-foot screen and 13,000 watts of digital surround sound!
Tech at Nite: A Nightlife Adventure for Adults Only
When the moon illuminates The Tech’s Dome on Thursday, Dec. 19, the real party begins. Kick off your Downtown San Jose Holiday Crawl at the inaugural Tech at Nite, an adults-only museum nightlife event. Guests can enjoy:
- Music and vibes curated by Universal Grammar, featuring sets from Chale Brown and Zuri Alexa.
- Sipping old-fashioneds while delving into the science behind 10th Street Distillery’s locally-made whiskey.
- Unique holiday crafting sessions led by Local Color, a creative community organization.
- Exclusive nighttime access to museum favorites, like the Jet Pack Chair and Sustainable Cities.
If you loved Geektoberfest or Creative Collisions, you won’t want to miss the return of nightlife events at The Tech Interactive.
