The Tech Interactive has launched Homeschool Days, special Wednesday programs built with homeschooling families in mind. These select dates provide a flexible, enriching experience featuring hands-on activities, guided labs, and engaging STEAM demonstrations.

  • Full access to all exhibits for self-guided exploration
  • Mini STEAM demonstrations throughout the day led by The Tech’s education team
  • Access to a Drop-In Labs, where students can explore open-ended science and engineering activities at their own pace

    Explore the exciting world of genetics by doing experiments and activities with scientists from Stanford University.

  • Pop-up Demonstrations

    All ages

    Neurobiology Activity 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Science of Fireworks 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • Squishy Circuits Workshop

    11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Craft a circuit using conductive dough

    At home extension

  • Make it Matter Science Lab

    12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    1st - 3rd grade focus
    Play with the building blocks of the universe: matter! Students explore and experiment with the properties of matter using everyday chemicals and compounds.



    At home extension

  • Engineering for Earthquakes Science Lab

    12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    4th grade and above
    Construct seismically sound structures to survive the “Big One.”



    At home extension

  • Down the Drain Science Lab

    2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

    3rd grade and above
    Protect the planet! Design a better storm drain grate to prevent pollution from entering the watershed.

  • Mushroom Snowballs

    2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m.

    Ages 10+, scientists under age 10 need an adult partner to participate
    Explore the sustainable material of the future by designing an everlasting, unmeltable “snowball” that will grow from mushroom mycelium.
