It’s giving science, nostalgia, and serious chill — no sunscreen required!

June 26, 2025, San Jose, CA — Skip the sunscreen and crank up the curiosity because The Tech Interactive’s summer lineup is bringing the vibes to downtown San Jose. From June 20 to August 3, Silicon Valley’s premier science and technology center offers extended hours, hands-on experiences, and a full lineup of 90s-inspired fun for visitors of all ages. To help guests make the most of it all, The Tech Interactive is open with extended summer hours until 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.

From larger-than-life domino builds to dance-party science nights and full-length films in the largest IMAX® dome theater on the West Coast, The Tech Interactive is the Bay Area’s go-to destination for cool fun, cutting-edge learning, and hands-on adventures all summer long.

In addition to exploring 130,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits, exploratory labs, and design challenge experiences, including The Tech Interactive’s newest AI-powered immersive exhibit Dream Garden, visitors can enjoy a summer packed with creative workshops and pop-up activities. From building solar ovens for s’mores to experimenting with molecular gastronomy and mastering the art of domino chain reactions, there’s something for every curious mind. 

“If summer at The Tech were a mixtape, it’d be packed with science hits, hands-on jams, and blockbuster IMAX tracks,” said Natalie Taylor, VP of Engagement & Experiences at the Tech Interactive. “From building epic domino chains to chilling out with IMAX flicks and hands-on fun, summer at The Tech is all that and a bag of chips.”

The 10th Annual Tech Topple: July 13–19

The biggest domino and machine build in California returns! Join YouTube sensation Flash Domino and a team of 15 expert builders as they construct a 50,000-domino masterpiece with an escape room twist: Think Outside the Box. Visitors can meet the domino artists, join workshops, and witness The Big Topple on July 19 at 1 p.m.

Shark Week at The Tech: July 20–26

Celebrate the ocean’s most iconic predators with shark-themed crafts, pop-up science, and the premiere of IMAX’s Shark Kingdom. The fun continues with a special 50th anniversary screening of Jaws, August 30–September 1.

Sock Skating Rink: July 22–Aug. 3

Glide across a colorful, music-filled sock skating rink — no skates required! Just bring your best socks (or pick up a pair in the gift shop) and get ready for a sock-tacular time for all ages.

Tech at Nite: Rewind Edition — July 24 (21+ only)

Channel your inner middle schooler with grown-up perks at this throwback night featuring DJ sets, full exhibit access, and hands-on experiments with a cocktail in hand. Tickets start at $35.

Cool off with a blockbuster lineup in our world-class IMAX Dome Theater:

• F1 (June 26–July 5): Feel the adrenaline in this racing thrill ride.
• Superman (July 10–20): Fly back in time with the original Man of Steel.
• Jaws (Aug. 30-Sept.1): Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the world's most famous shark!
