The Tech is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In 2015, The Tech will be closed:

The Tech is located in the heart of downtown San Jose at the corner of Park Avenue and Market Street, near Interstate 280 and Highway 87. Our mango and azure building is hard to miss!
- San Jose McEnery Convention Center (150 W. San Carlos St.): Weekday and weekend validation for a $5 flat rate.
- 2nd and San Carlos Garage (280 S. 2nd St.): Weekday and weekend validation for a $5 flat rate.
- CityView Plaza Garage (115 S. Market St.): Validated $5 flat rate if arriving after 5 p.m. on a weekday, or anytime on a weekend.

The Tech is conveniently located next to VTA stops for both the light rail and the bus.
The Tech is less than a 20-minute walk from the San Jose Diridon Station (65 Cahill St.).
Amtrak's Capitol Corridor rail system connects with a number of transit networks to make car-free travel easy.
From the Fremont BART station, take the VTA Express Bus 180 and disembark at Almaden Avenue and San Fernando. The museum is a short walk from there.
For visitors coming from the Central Valley, The Tech is a short walk from the ACE rail station.

Museums on Us
Bank of America members with a valid ATM credit or check card and photo ID can get one free general admission ticket (galleries only) on the first full weekend of every month.
Present a valid AAA card and receive $3 off one adult combo ticket (galleries plus one educational IMAX film) or $2 off a combo ticket for children, students and seniors.
Active-duty U.S. military personnel and veterans can receive one free combo ticket (galleries plus educational IMAX film). Military family members can receive $3 off each adult combo ticket and $2 off combo tickets for children, students and seniors. Military or veteran ID required.
Arrive during the final hour before closing and receive a discounted rate on a general admission ticket.
Present your convention badge at the ticket desk and you can receive a discounted price of $21 for one adult combo ticket (galleries plus one educational IMAX film). Combo tickets for children, students and seniors may be purchased for $17. You may also get $3 off a general admission ticket for adults or $2 off for children, students and seniors.
Admission fees support the mission of The Tech and its educational programs and activities. But these fees should not prevent someone from enjoying our galleries. If you cannot afford the full admission fee, please see a staff member at the ticket counter.
Dining and Shopping
The Tech Cafe
Take a breather at The Tech Cafe, which features breakfast burritos, burgers and fries, pasta, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups and a menu just for kids. Members get a 10% discount. The cafe, presented by Lunch with Tony, opens at 10 a.m. Closing times vary. View menu.
The Tech Store
Books, games, T-shirts, toys, science kits and collectibles fill the displays at the most unique gift shop in downtown San Jose. Members get a 10% discount.

There is parking for vehicles with disabled parking permits on South Market Street, near the main entrance of The Tech.
There are wheelchair-accessible restrooms on each level. A family restroom is located on the ground level.
Wheelchairs may be checked out at the Information Desk. Please bring ID.
An elevator is located near the escalators.
The Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater
There are four spaces for wheelchairs with four adjacent companion/semi-ambulatory seats. We cannot guarantee that parties will be seated together. A staff member will escort visitors to these seats from the elevator. If you need assistance, please notify IMAX staff at least 20 minutes before showtime. Printed scripts for select IMAX films are available. Please ask an usher.
The Jet Pack Simulator exhibit in the Exploration Gallery (Lower Level) has modified, difficult or no access to people using wheelchairs. The Shake Platform (Lower Level) makes rapid, jarring movements. Please secure wheelchair brakes before the earthquake simulation begins.
How can we help?
Please call The Tech before your visit at 1-408-294-8324 if you have special requirements. During the school year, weekday mornings are usually quite busy. You may wish to plan your visit for a weekday afternoon or weekend morning if you wish to avoid crowds or need extra time or assistance with the exhibits.
Do you have an ATM?
Yes. It’s in the lobby next to the Information Desk.
Do you have a coat check or lockers?
We do not have a coat check, but lockers are available for rental (50 cents).
Where is the Lost and Found?
Lost and Found is located at the Information Desk.
Do you have wheelchairs?
Yes. Wheelchairs are available at the Information Desk.
Can I take food into the IMAX theater and museum?
Food and drinks may be consumed in the lobby and IMAX theater but are not permitted in the galleries.
Are photography and video allowed in the museum?
Yes, we do allow personal use of photography and video inside the museum. For media or promotional shoots, please contact Marika Krause, public relations manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
