Body Worlds Decoded

Interactive Exhibits

Body Worlds Decoded is located on the Upper Level next to The Tech for Global Good.

Even if you’ve seen Body Worlds, you’ve never seen it like this.

Body Worlds Decoded puts a Silicon Valley twist on the incredible plastinated human bodies that have sparked curiosity and awe around the world through Gunther von Hagens’ Institute for Plastination. With the use of augmented reality and other emerging technologies, visitors can examine organs and body systems through immersive 3D models.

Explore the human body like never before.

Peek at what lies beneath your own skin with a full-body visualization of your bones, muscles, nervous and circulatory systems. Explore the body’s systems at touchscreen stations or study an art installation inspired by the human body — then sit down and sketch your own piece of art.

Plastinated Human Bodies

Eight full-body plastinates and more than 60 anatomical specimens have been provided by Gunther von Hagens’ Institute for Plastination. Explore the smallest organs to the most complex systems, including nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, urinary, reproductive, digestive and locomotive.

Immersive Technology

In partnership with the Institute for the Future, The Tech created Iris, a custom AR system built on the Google Tango platform. Iris uses the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, a Tango-enabled smartphone, allowing visitors to view and interact with 3D models.

“This is going to be the best experience of the magic and mysteries inside the human body in the world.”

-John Doerr

Real human bodies. Unreal technology.

Body Worlds Decoded is included with the price of general admission.
